I believe the state has a very positive future but we have to address some challenges along the way.
Tasmania is a great place to live with many opportunities for the future.
At the heart of reaching our potential as a state is ensuring every Tasmanian has access to quality education.
It is a whole of community responsibility to value learning and value our teachers.
Government has to invest in education and work with the community to deliver the best outcomes for students.
Quality education enables students to make positive choices about their future life and work.
It is critical that there are job opportunities for Tasmanians and creating jobs in a range of industries is essential. There are many new and emerging industries which will build on the jobs that already exist in our traditional industries that have led the way in the Tasmanian economy.
The Government has a responsibility to stimulate the economy and provide the right conditions for businesses to grow and develop.
Only one example is the tourism industry with record numbers visiting the state and recognition of our wilderness, heritage, arts and quality food and beverages growing.
Tasmania has a great future and I am very keen to work to realise its true potential.
